The world is a scary place right now with COVID-19 spreading globally and taking lives everyday. The beauty industry has been hit hard due to falling profits and jobs being at risk; however, there are brands that are finding ways to contribute during this pandemic. From creating face masks for hospital workers to creating hand wash, brands have been enforcing kindness to help others around the world. Here are some of the beauty brands making a difference during this tough time. The Body Shop The Body Shop is known globally for it's 'kind to skin' bath and shower products, cruelty free makeup and fragrances. In North America, the teams are donating more than 30,000 hygiene supplies for homeless shelters and senior communities across the US to help them maintain cleanliness during the pandemic. Across the UK, teams have been creating goodie bags full of Body Shop products for hard-working NHS staff as a token of appreciation. Soap and Glory Soap and Glory; a bath and body brand have collaborated with The Hygiene Bank; a people-powered charity and society movement which ensures that people who are living in poverty can have access to basic cleaning necessities. For every purchased made online with Boots until 5th May, Soap and Glory will donate a product percentage of their classic 'Clean On Me' shower gels to the charity for the most vulnerable and it is estimated that 15,000 bottles will be donated during this difficult time. Founder of The Hygiene Bank, Lizzy Hall says: "The partnership with Boots- one of the UK's best loved and trusted retailers will not only give us a platform to raise awareness about the hidden issue of hygiene poverty, but will allow communities across the UK to easily get involved by donating the daily essentials." L'Oreal Drugstore brand L'Oreal announced a Europe-wide Coronavirus Solidarity Programme on 18th March to help various stakeholders . This includes care homes, hospitals and pharmacies who are at the forefront of tackling the virus, food suppliers and distributors who are providing needs to consumers, as well as non-profit organisations. The programme involves using the laboratories and factories to produce hand sanitiser and supply them for free for health authorities including social workers and volunteers. The company also decided to donate 1 million euros to it's non-profit organisations; providing hygiene kits for the vulnerable. Lucy Bee Skincare brand Lucy Bee is known for it's infamous Fair Trade organic raw coconut oil which is versatile as it can be used on skin and hair to provide hydrating and nourishing properties. However, the brand has expanded it's range to soap bars, moisturisers and face creams. The brand is supporting the pandemic by partnering with UK's largest soap manufacturer Soapworks to donate 30,000 soaps to charities across the UK from food banks, homeless shelters and care homes to help people in need of sanitary products.
